Melzor D. Stearns, age 77 of Lewiston, Michigan, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017.
Melzor was born in Flint, Michigan on June 5, 1939 to Duane and Frances (Purcell) Stearns. He worked for McDonald Dairy Plant in Flint, Michigan as a truck driver, retiring in 2002. He moved to Luzerne, MI following his retirement. Melzor married Linda J. Marsan in Luzerne in September of 1998. He worked part-time during his retirement for Handrich Trucking, and also for Country Fresh Dairy. Melzor was a member of the Luzerne American Legion Post. He enjoyed deer hunting, bowling, NASCAR, camping, karaoke, tooling around in his “buggy”, and spending time with his family and friends.
Melzor is survived by his wife Linda J. of Lewiston, MI; his children: Danny (Kelly) Stearns of Clio, MI; Debbie (Tom) Graham of Clio, MI; and his step-son Sam (Amy) Alexander of Linden, MI; his sister Fran Freeman; his brothers: Marvin (Joyce) Stearns, Robert Stearns, and Garry Stearns; his grandchildren: Danny Frazier, Vanessa (Justin) Riley, Josh Graham, and Halee Alexander; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Stearns, and 2 sisters-in-law.
Visitation on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 3 – 8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, and also on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 10 AM until Funeral Services at 11 AM with Pastor Hedy Alcock officiating. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the services.
Memorials may be made for the needs and wishes of the family.
