Russell Leon Bowen Sr. 61, of Durand, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at his home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 2:00pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel, Pastor Louis Canady will celebrate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00am until the service at 2:00pm.
Russ was born August 28, 1958 in Flint, Michigan to the late James Harvey and Shirley Pauline (Argetsinger) Bowen. He graduated from Durand High School in the class of 1976 and spent his life operating heavy equipment. Russ worked on the railroad, and for a couple excavating companies with his career ending as a truck driver for Delta Paving. He liked anything that was loud and fast, he had a true need for speed and excitement in his life. He enjoyed participating in spectator drag races at the Owosso Speedway, he liked snowmobiling, and sitting on the lake fishing.
Russell is survived by his companion of 25 years, Michelle, his son, Russ Jr. Daughters; Chrystal (Matthew) Kraiger and Ryanna (Luke) Langkamp, his grandchildren; Alyssa, Dayton, Alyson, and Grace, also his siblings; Rich (Debbie) Bowen, and Rob Bowen and several step and half siblings.
Russ was a giving man and wouldn’t let anyone go hungry, so donations in his name are suggested to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry.
