Katrina Mary Ostrander of Chesaning,
Precious daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away on March 23, 2025 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, at the age of 39.
Katrina was born to Murray Ostrander and Betty (Brown) Ostrander on August 21, 1985 in Gainesville, Georgia. She graduated from Chesaning Union High School in 2004, and went to Saginaw Valley State University where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature. After school, she worked at Home Depot in Owosso, where she met some of the best friends, and made great memories. Katrina was currently working as a freelance writer and transcriber. A writer at heart, Katrina dreamed of penning America’s next great novel. Her love for storytelling was matched only by her passion for Marvel movies, Bob Segar, Green Day, and her deep affection for animals, especially her many cats over the years, and her dog, Bilbo. Each year, she looked forward to the Renaissance Festival, where she could enjoy a turkey leg and revel in the magic of the event. In the warmer weather, she enjoyed travelling to Traverse City, Chicago, and especially the Mackinac Bridge, which was her favorite place. She was a loyal Detroit Red Wings fan, and even got her mom hooked on the team alongside her.
Katrina had an unforgettable personality and an incredible sense of humor. Her infectious laugh could brighten even the darkest day, and she had a way of lighting up every room she entered. Friendly and warm, she made everyone she met feel truly welcomed and at ease. Her jokes were second to none—she brought so much happiness and joy to those lucky enough to know her.
Katrina is survived by her mother, Betty Ostrander; brothers, Eric (Nicole) Ostrander and Roger (Jessica Forshee) Ostrander; and nephew, Pat Ostrander. She was preceded in death by her father, Murray Ostrander.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 5:00pm, with visitation starting at 2:00pm until the time of service, at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel. Cremation will follow. |
