Marguerite (Peggy) Irene McFarlane, 90, of Lapeer, MI, went home to be with her Lord February 8, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was a strong, devout Christian and prayer warrior. She was always known for her beautiful smile and was loved by everyone who knew her. She loved roses and taking walks with her friends.
Peggy was born on July 22, 1923 in Flint to John & Sybil Canning, and she graduated from Flint Central in 1941. She married Eldon Ralph McFarlane, of Saskatchewan, Canada in Flint on May 19, 1945. She worked at AC in Flint during World War II, and after the war she became a homemaker & mother of 3. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eldon, sister Muriel Pilley, and brother John Canning. Peggy is survived by her children: David (Debbie) McFarlane of Columbiaville; Paula Brown of Davison; and Leonard (Wanda) McFarlane of New Port Richie, FL.; granddaughters (Deana, Jennifer, Angela, Bonnie & Melody) and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at My Home and Suncrest both in Lapeer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to WMPC or the Pregnancy Resource Center of Lapeer.
The funeral will be held at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Lapeer on Thursday, February 13th at 4pm. Visitation will be held at Muir Brothers in Lapeer on Wednesday, February 12th from 4pm to 8pm, and 3pm to 4pm at the church on the day of the funeral. Pastor Dan Turner will be officiating.
