Cortner, Wayne of Flushing, age 89, died Monday, September 15, 2014, at his home. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Rossell Funeral Home. Rev. Ken Sharp will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Wayne was born in Columbus, Indiana on September 18, 1924, the son of Harry and Mattie (Harker) Cortner. He married Maxine Matheson on December 28, 1946. Wayne worked for Consumers Energy for over 30 years. After retirement, Wayne and Maxine enjoyed 25 years in Bradenton, Florida. He enjoyed golf and bowling.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maxine; children, Carole and husband Dale Leach, Wayne Cortner; grandchildren, Samuel Leach, Rachel Conant, Mattie Marcy, Jeffrey Cortner and five great-grandchildren. |
