KLECKLER, Louis K. – Of Flint Township, age 88, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Lakeview Cemetery in Howell, Michigan.
Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of one’s choice.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lou was born in Flint, Michigan on June 25, 1924, son of the late Lewis and Lottie (Wiltz) Kleckler and resided in the Flint area and Oxford most of his life.
He graduated from Flint Northern in 1942.
He was an avid sports fan his entire life. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, at the training camp in Lakeland, Florida during the winters.
Lou was an avid golfer until he lost his eye sight in 1996, but continued to play golf in a league.
One of Lou’s hi-lights was when he was inducted into the Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2003, the 1946 State Champion as a member of the Weller's Service Fast Pitch Softball Team.
Lou was a member of the Tawas Area Elks Lodge #2525, Dom Polski Club and PLAV Club.
He enjoyed having lunch with his friends at Meijer and loved reminiscing.
Lou retired from Saginaw Manufacturing Division of GM in 1984.
Surviving are daughter, Tracy (John) Freel of Grand Blanc and
son, Mark of Vienna, IL;
grandchildren, Ethan Freel and Karli Jo Kleckler;
brother, Richard (Jackie) Kleckler;
special nephew, Scott (Pam) Kleckler;
special niece, Kerri (Chris) Brandt and girls, Morgan and Alexis;
many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Ford and Helen Kleckler; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Dean Roberts.
