Mr. Arthur Raymond Klein-Papa of Flint Township, Age 89, passed peacefully at home on July 17th 2019. He leaves behind his precious wife Kathleen (Bennetts) Klein.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Church, G-3139 Hogarth Ave, Flint, MI, at noon on August 3rd, on what would have been his 90th birthday.
The son of the late Raymond Klein and Theresa (Bauman), Arthur was born in Flint and graduated from Northern High-school in 1947. He continued his education at GMI and Baker College. While working as head teller at Merchants and Mechanics Bank, he met his future wife, Kathleen. They were married on May 2, 1951 at St. John Vianney, and celebrated their 68th anniversary in the spring. He served in the 1st Cavalry during the Korean War. Upon his return home, he worked as an engineer for GM for 36 years. Known throughout the plant for his attention to detail, he was never without his pencil, paper and measuring tape, constantly making notes for improvements. He retired in 1988 from Fisher Body, Grand Blanc. Community service was one of Arthur’s great passions. He was an active member of the Swartz Creek Lions Club for 50 years. He was a founding member of St. Pius X where he devoted countless hours to the St. Joseph’s Guild and served as a life-long usher. He built a variety of items for the church and school, but he especially loved a small house he built for the altar. Every week, with great joy, he watched the children of the parish use the box to make their weekly offering. Arthur was a family man and enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends. Most of his hobbies and interests were shared with his greatest joy- his family. Spending time in the U.P. with his son Steve and family brought Arthur great happiness. He looked forward to visits from his daughter Susan and traveling to Boston to spend time with her family. He found pride in his son Mark’s devotion to his wife and children and knowledge of classic cars. Arthur created many cherished memories spending warm summer days swimming with his daughter Sandra and her family. The whole Klein family has shared many memories in Cadillac MI at the family cabin. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, son Steve and Linda (Moore) of Gaines and family Alicia (Brian) Richardson, Kristie (Dan) Bruder and Danny- daughter, Susan and (John) Nadworny of Boston and family Alexandria, Ben and James and Marks wife Janet (Lawson) Klein and family Jenna (Joe) Duplanty, Marissa, and Robbie’s daughter Sandra Klein Cawood of Flint Township (Russell- deceased) and family Katie (David) Sicard, Kyle, Dustin, Ryan and Cole and 19 great grandchildren and counting. Interment will take place privately at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. He was preceded in death by son Mark, his brother LaVern Klein, and sister, Virginia (Smith). In lieu of flowers donations canbe made to: Swartz Creek Lions Club, 6004 Creekside Dr., Swartz Creek, MI 48473 or VFW Swartz Creek Post, 3131 Elms Rd, Swartz Creek MI 48473. A special Thank you to Pat and Melody McCarron - St. Pius X.
