ZOBEL, DuWayne C. – of Birch Run, age 87, died Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Covenant Health Care – Cooper in Saginaw. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Burial to follow in Cook Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12PM until 8PM and again on Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Birch Run Township Fire Department.
DuWayne was born on July 31, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Carl and Meda (Gerth) Zobel. He attended Arthur Hill High School. DuWayne married Jeanette Nawrocki in Indiana on February 28, 1950. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2000. DuWayne worked for Tottens Gas Station for 20 years. He also worked for Morgan’s Distributing and Wicks Machine and Tool. DuWayne was also a member of the Birch Run Fire Department for 26 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, farming, and polka music. He also liked to work on cars, collect tractors, and go camping in Hillman, Michigan.
Surviving are: Children: Sherry (Jeff) Traver, JoAnne (Ed) McNamara, and James Zobel; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; Brother, Carl (Bernie) Zobel; Sister-in-law, Phyllis Zobel, and brother-in-law, Ted Kochan.
