MARKS, Mr. Joseph-age 94, of Flint, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Willowbrook Manor. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, August 15, 2016 with a 10:30 am family hour at Greater Galilee Baptist Church 4418 Industrial Ave., Flint, MI 48505. Interim Pastor, Rev. Andre L. Williams Sr. officiating. The final resting place for Mr. Marks will be Gracelawn Community Cemetery, Flint, MI. Calling hours are 12:00 noon - 6:00 pm Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Joseph James Marks was born March 8, 1922 in Chennyville, LA the son of John and Sarah Marks. He was currently a member of Greater Galilee Baptist Church. He served in the Male Choir for many years, he was a member of the Men's Laymen. Bro. Marks was one of the oldest members of Greater Galilee Baptist Church and attended Sunday and Vacation Bible School. Mr. Joseph Marks retired from General Motors after serving 30 years of service (1947-1978). He is an Army Veteran, who served in World War II from October 23, 1942 until March 18, 1945. During this time he was stationed in India, after which he was honorably discharged.
Mr. Joseph Marks leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Rita Marks-Williams of Flint, MI; 10 grandchildren, Joseph D. Marks, Ernie Johnson, Ervin Marks Jr., Dominiqe Wright, Shawing Love, Courtney Marks, Monique Sibbley, Randolph Thames, Reginal Thames, Angela Tucker, and Theresa Tyler; a host of nephews, a host of nieces; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Rev. Alvin Brown Sr., Deacon John Crawford, Deacon Charlie Miller, Celeste Redmond, Irene Fouse & Howard walker,
The family would like to express special thanks to: Dr. Rafee, the staff of Willowbrook Nursing Home, Crystal and the staff at Woodland Manor Assisted Living, Pastor Andre Williams Jr. and the Greater Galilee Baptist Church, extended thanks for cards, calls, and prayers.
