UHEREK, Carl Mark – of Otisville, MI, age 65, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423 with one hour of visitation prior to the mass; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment, with Military Honors, 2:30 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Monday, October 16, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM Monday followed by a Memorial Service, under the auspices of the Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #4090 of Davison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Heart Association, in Carl’s memory.
Carl was born in Detroit, MI on January 11, 1952, son of the late Carl and Eileen (Morrison) Uherek. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles from 1972-1974. Carl married Rita Flynn on August 26, 1977 at St. Mary’s in Mt. Morris, MI. He graduated in 1970 from St. Mary’s Flint and from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1991. Carl was employed as the Director of Biomedical Engineering at St. Joseph/Genesys Hospital. Carl’s clinical engineering skills were instrumental in the design and implementation of most of the patient care monitoring systems that they employ today. He applied his creativity “can do” approach and customer service philosophy to many technological enhancements at the bedside.
Carl is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rita; 4 children, Carl, Amanda, Joshua and Jacob (Jamila) Uherek; 5 grandchildren, Jackalyn, Nahla, Gabriel, Michael and Raphael; 4 siblings, Mary, Ann, Mark and Joanie; many other loving family members and friends.
