Helen Therese Clair Folsom was born October 3, 1926 in Guelph Ontario, Canada. She attended Marygrove College in Detroit, MI where she received her degree as a dietitian in 1947. After interning at Harper Hospital in Detroit she secured a position at Hurley Hospital in Flint. She married Russell Folsom from Flint at Fort Benning, Georgia May 12, 1956. Helen and Russ lived in Flint most of their married life where Helen continued to work at Hurley until January 1984.
Helen was spiritual, faithful and very devoted to her family. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, reading and making special birthday cards for her children and grandchildren.
For the last 6 years, Helen was lovingly taken care of by Jodi Miller, until Helen was peacefully raised up on Angels wings on February 27, 2018 surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her children, Diane Folsom, Edward (Julie) Folsom, Virginia (Paul) Williamson and Barbara Deering; grandchildren, Carl (Tonya) Trimble, Angela (Steven) Schultz, Sara Folsom, Anna Folsom, Katy Deering and Courtney Deering; and 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Folsom, grandson, Joel Trimble, both of her parents; and 7 siblings.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, March 2, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Durand. Rev. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta will be officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Durand from 1-3 and 5-7 PM with a Rosary prayed at 6:00 PM.
