Bob Ranger, 67, of Lapeer and Port Austin, died Wednesday December 17, 2014.
Bob was born November 15, 1947 in Lapeer County to parents William & Pauline (Dunlap) Ranger. He graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1965. He went on to serve his country proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Bob worked in the accounting field his entire life, owning Ranger Tax & Accounting in Lapeer and Port Austin Tax & Financial. Bob was an active member of both Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer and United Protestant Church in Port Austin. Bob was blessed with one fulfilling year after being diagnosed with cancer. He enjoyed his church families, was an avid golfer and fully enjoyed his retirement years in Port Austin where he was passionate about helping homeless cats.
Bob is survived by his wife, Helen Ranger; three sons: Marc (Holly) Ranger of Farr West, UT, Brian Ranger of Lapeer & Christopher (Meggen Schwab) Lang-Ranger of Lapeer; eight grandchildren: Caden, Jerni, Leah, Adam, Ashley, Eric, Kailey & Casen; siblings: Karen Kilgore of Arizona, David Ranger of Texas & Paula (Dan) Hudson of Burton; mother-in-law, Norma Willis of North Branch. Bob was preceded in death by his sisters: Lesa Kenline, Vicky Ranger & Grace Lalond; mother, Pauline Rhein; father, William Ranger; father-in-law, Howard Willis.
Visitation will be held 4:30-8:30PM Friday December 19, 2014 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. His funeral service will take place 2:00PM Saturday December 20, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapeer, Pastor Grant Lobb officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer with military honors under the auspices of the Lapeer American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapeer or United Protestant Church, Port Austin.
