CHRISTIE, Donald C. - Of Flint, age 79, died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held 11am Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Reverend John Ferris officiating.
Burial in Montrose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Visitation 4-8pm Sunday and 10am Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Donald was born in Grand Rapids, MI on July 17, 1935. On October 2, 1954, he married Shannon Connolly in Flint. He retired from General Motors. Donald loved carving and wood working. He was a Scout Leader and enjoyed hunting. Most of all, Donald enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are wife, Shannon;
children, Sheryl and husband Rick McDowell of Cadillac, Donald and wife Sue Christie of Farmington Hills, Kevin and wife Brenda Christie of Burton, Greg and wife April Christie of West Olive, MI and Bryan and wife Barbara Christie of Otisville’
17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren;
sister, Mary Ellen Whaley of Grand Rapids and brother, Chuck and wife Carla Christie of California;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Teresa Connolly of Lapeer and Mike and Jeremy Connolly of Northport;
and nieces and nephews.
