DELBRIDGE, James R. “Poppy”- Of Swartz Creek, age 85, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held 11am Monday, May 7, 2018 at St. George Orthodox Church, 5191 Lennon Road, Flint,
The Very Reverend Father Joseph Abud officiating.
Burial in Flushing Cemetery with Military Honors.
Contributions may be made to St. George Orthodox Church.
Visitation 2-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Trisagion Service will be held 7pm Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Monday at the Church until the time of the service.
James was born in Flint on March 29, 1933. On April 16, 1960, he married Evelyn Isaac in Swartz Creek. James served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. He was a member of USS Wright Association. James retired as a firefighter from the City of Flint. He was a long-standing member of St. George Orthodox Church serving as a member of the Parish Council. James loved golf, flowers, gardening and Euchre.
Surviving are wife of 58 years, Evelyn;
son, Roger and wife Sandy Isaac of Flushing;
granddaughter, Stephanie and husband Brian Silpoch of Grand Blanc;
grandson, Scott Lawrence of Flushing;
great-grandchildren, Abbey Lawrence, Brendan Silpoch and Lauren Silpoch;
sister, Elizabeth and husband, James Fonger of Flushing;
sister-in-law, Shirley Delbridge.
and many nieces and nephews including, Terri, Heather, Nicole, Matthew and Dorcia.
He was preceded in death by his mother Jessie, father Dorcy, brother Richard, sister Barbara and grandson Matthew.
