Jake was born February 6, 1940 in Flint, MI, the youngest son of Vergel and Clara Veit. He retired from General Motors in 1988. In his younger years, Jake loved woodworking and being in the out of doors, especially hunting and fishing. He had a good sense of humor, and was usually joking around. Jake liked to dance or play pool at the Davison Eagles Aerie 3589. He was a simple guy and found pleasure in simple things, like putting around on his tractor, and sitting on the porch of his cabin hoping to get a glimpse of a big buck or a bear.

Jake leaves his devoted daughter, Donna (Todd) Cummings of Durand; his adored grandchildren, Jarrod J. and Lane Ann as well as “adopted grandson”, Matthew Fox; his brothers Voneber (Janet) Veit and Clifford (MaryJane) Veit all of Davison; sisters-in-law, Minnie Veit of Nevada, Deborah Peterson, Marie Wilson, Margaret Peterson, and Evelyn Bonk; many nieces and nephews He had a special fondness for his nephew Vergel “Karl” and his wife Heidi Veit. He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline; his parents; brother, Vergil “Dario” Veit and sister, Donna C. Neil. Jake had many people he thought of as family, Tani, Michelle, Diane, Leveda and Marvin, Chris, Wayne and Teresa, Gary and Leanne, Joy Jordan, his wonderful neighbors in Wildwood, and the many wonderful people at the Club. His daughter would like to express her gratitude to the Durand Senior Care and Rehab Center, for their kindness and compassion, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their devotion to his care and comfort. She would also like to thank, Apollo Family Restaurant, Flag City Diner, and Johns Pizzeria for serving Jake years of good food, conversation, and wonderful friendship. He still wants his million dollars.
