COOPER, Donald "Dugan"- of Birch Run, age 63, went to his heavenly home on Monday, December 17, to be re-united with his mother, father, sister (Sharon) and brother (Ron) after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Dugan was born on December 11, 1949 to Donald and Irene (Ross Reimer) Cooper. He graduated from Birch Run High School in 1968. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968-1972. He attended Ferris State University receiving a degree in horticulture. He was a member of the TKE Fraternity. He was an avid sportsman, participating in baseball, softball and most recently, golf. He was a loyal fan of the U of M Teams, the Red Wings, the Tigers and even the Lions.
Dugan is survived by family and friends who are saddened beyond belief. Brothers, Kenny (Helen) Reimer, Denny (Gloria) Cooper, Marty Cooper; sisters, Darlene Morris, Nancy (Paul) Ellis, Sheila DiBerardino, Tooney (Terry) Sprowl, Debbie Chapman, Shelly Check, Donna (Craig) Langmaid and Sheryl (Eric) Morse; sister-in-law, Marie Reimer; many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and his beloved cats. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Irene Cooper; father, Don Cooper; brother, Ron Reimer; sister, Sharon Arnold; grandmas and grandpas; and many other loving relatives.
Special thanks to the dedicated staff at the VA Hospital, St. Mary's of Michigan, Covenant Health Systems, and most recently, Henry Ford Hospital. You are truly special people.
We will remember Dugan as that special person in our family who was loved and admired by everyone who knew him. He possessed a unique spirit and humor always. He represented the very best of our family. We prayed for a Christmas miracle, but the good Lord had different plans for Dugan, as he does for all of us. With heavy hearts, we sadly say good-bye for now, not forever.
Funeral Services will be held at 1PM on Friday, December 21, 2012 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Burial will be in Birch Run Cemetery with military honors by the Birch Run VFW Post#7542. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-9PM, Thursday from 10AM-9PM with a friends and family eulogy service at 7PM, and Friday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM.
