ANDRES, Sarah. - of Mt. Morris, age 77, died Friday, January 26, 2018 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Colonial Hills Baptist Church, 5375 West Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris. Pastor Jesse England officiating. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Monday from 12PM until 8PM and at the church on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM.
Sarah was born October 26, 1940 in Finleyville, Pennsylvania to the late Albert and Virgina (Martin) Briggs. She graduated from Snowden High School in 1958. Sarah married George “Tom” Andres in Library, Pennsylvania on August 13, 1960. She worked in the culinary department for the Mt. Morris School system and retired after 20 years. Sarah was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Mt. Morris for 38 years. She was also a member of the Montrose Bowman’s Club and played on the Colonial Hills Softball Team until she was 62 years old. Sarah served as a Deaconess for Colonial Hills Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, playing softball, and cooking. She especially loved the Detroit Red Wings and was very involved in her grandchildren’s sports.
Surviving are: Husband, Tom; Children: Debbie Berry, Lori Holderby, and Denise (Gary) Campbell; Grandchildren: Joe Berry, Ashley Campbell, Heather Holderby, and Amanda Holderby; Brother, Roger Briggs; Sisters: Helen Gleason and Sharon Lenik; Sister-in-laws: Darlene (Robert) White, Ruth Andres, and Sue Andres; Many nieces, nephews, and “adopted daughters.” She was also preceded in death by: Sisters: Mabel Pelesky and Alberta Wilderman; Son-in-laws, Tom Berry and Robert Holderby; Brother-in-laws: James Andres and Gary Andres; Sister-in-law, Natalie Minnick.
