SHANKS, Richard A. – of Mt. Morris, age 64, died Monday, November 16, 2015 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Rev. Gerald Hodgeson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12noon until time of services at 4 PM. Cremation to follow. Contributions may be made to the family.
Rick was born March 17, 1951 in Flint to the late Raymond and Patricia (Titmus) Shanks and was a lifelong resident of Mt. Morris. He was a 1969 graduate of Mt. Morris High School. Rick married Beverly Maitland on July 8, 1989. Mr. Shanks had been employed at Knickerbocker Olds for 25 years then at Century 21 Woodland Realty for 25 years. He was a member of Richfield Rd. Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and sports.
Surviving are: Wife, Beverly; Furbaby, Cricket; Children: Rachel (Anthony) Gatrell of OK, Matthew Shanks of Montrose, Dana Dakin of Montrose, Lisa (Ron) Sujak of Montrose, Anne (Bill) Crow of Lapeer and Martin "Butch" Dakin of Mt. Morris; Grandchildren: Chris Crow, Chloe Crow, Malachi Shanks and Maggie Gatrell; Brother, Larry (Susan) Shanks of Grand Blanc; Sister, Beth (John) Goode of Mt. Morris; several nieces and nephews.
