HARDY, Elsie Rose (Legate) Bartlett – of Flint, MI, age 95, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM Monday, January 8, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 7 PM Monday, January 8, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maryknoll Lay Missioners, in Elsie’s memory.
Elsie was born in Detroit, MI on November 8, 1922, daughter of the late John and Anna (Rosenski) Legate. She married Richard C. Bartlett on November 29, 1940 and he preceded her in death on October 13, 1973. Elsie then married Homer Hardy on January 10, 1976 and he preceded her in death on September 1, 1997. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Elsie loved to travel, especially traveling through Europe and visiting the Holy Land. She had a love of music and singing in the choir. Elsie played various musical instruments including the organ, guitar and the accordion. She was hired by AC Sparkplug during WWII and was employed for 22 years.
Elsie is survived by 4 children, Richard (Marjorie) Bartlett, Jr., Lewis (Carleen) Bartlett, Annette (Brent) Brasher and Philip Bartlett; 12 grandchildren, Anthony, Laura, Carrie, Philline, Claudette, Annette, Richard, Alisha, Michelle, Christina, Melissa and Catherine; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by son, Thomas Bartlett; 2 brothers, William and John Legate.
