AMBOY, Betty – of Davison, age 92, passed away September 1, 2015 at Stonegate Health Campus – Lapeer. A Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery at 3:30PM on Saturday. Visitation will be 10AM until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Betty was born in Montrose, MI on August 27, 1923, daughter of the late Daniel and Susan (Feller) Larkin. She married Gleason Amboy on September 30, 1944 and he preceded her in death on April 21, 1971. Betty graduated from Flushing High School in 1941. She then worked at the Greyhound Bus Station in Flint during WWII and worked in the library at GMI/Kettering for 20 years, retiring in 1988. For many years Betty was very active in Jobs Daughters and Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America – El Said Court #28 where she was a past High Priestess. She was always eager to share her fond memories of those times. Betty was also a member of Court Street United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Trinity Circle.
Betty is survived by her three children, Gleason (Cheryl) Amboy Jr. of Osprey, FL, Barbara (Alan) Barnhart of Roscommon, MI, Richard (Debra Rizor) Amboy of Lapeer, MI; grandchildren, Gleason “Butch” Amboy III, Ryan (Tara) Amboy, Mark Amboy, Scott (Sabine) Barnhart, Matthew (Kristin) Barnhart, Rebecca Amboy (fiancé, Josh Miller), Daniel Amboy, John Amboy; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Kaitlyn, Cole and Emily Barnhart; step-daughter, Judith (Bob) Craig of Englewood, FL and her children, Michael (Gayle) Gavagan, Nanci (Dave) Done-Nemeth, Jeffery Gavagan; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Beatrice Adams, Burnice Tupper, Murle Shrum-Snyder, Marjorie McGinn, Elaine Talsma. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff, employees and friends at Stonegate in Lapeer.
