Byrnes, Harold F. of Flushing, age 84, died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Rossell Funeral Home. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society or the ASPCA.
Harold was born in Flint, Michigan on April 21, 1928, the son of Joseph and Stella (Kearns) Byrnes. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Harold worked at Buick, retiring after 30 years. He was proud of his Irish heritage and loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Harold enjoyed golfing, his dogs, sitting in his porch swing on Main Street and his one O’clock “special” every day.
Harold is survived by his children, Sharon and husband Nick George; Susie Young, Debbie Dowdall, Cindy and husband Ralph Stiff, Michael Byrnes; grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Laurie (Ryan), Cindy, Jacob (Heather), Katie (Shane), Tommy (Cayla), Heidi (Ryan), Heather (Russell), Hannah (Brad); eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Annette Byrnes, Helen Byrnes; only niece, Karen and husband Vern Sturdy; special dog, Echo. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Danny and brother, Joseph.
