Age 93, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at Regency of Grand Blanc, Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S. Center Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Bishop Urundi Knox officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Public viewing and Celebration of Life Service 6:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2019 at Ebenezer Ministries.
Mr. Samuel Solomon “Sam” Williams was born January 29, 1926 in Rison, Arkansas, the son of Samuel Sr. and Leatha Williams. He was a resident of Flint, Michigan. Sam was employed as Postmaster General Northside Station, United States Postal Service, 1st Flint Fair Housing Commissioner and Flint’s Sunday Morning Gospel Disc Jockey for more than 50 years. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling. Sam will be greatly missed by so many for his melodious voice and inspirational Gospel music offerings to so many homes within the radio listening audience.
“Sam” leaves to cherish his memory: devoted spouse of 73 years, Virginia Williams; daughter, Crystal Williams of Pontiac, MI; 2 sons, Bruce Williams and Stephen “Scott” Williams, both of Flint; 2 granddaughters, Ericka of Atlanta, GA and Kelli; great-granddaughter, Mya, both of Pontiac, MI; 3 brothers, Grady Williams, Freddie (Shirley) Williams, all of Flint and Greg Williams of Detroit, MI; brother-in-law, Rev. Paul (Jawana) Todd of Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Sr. and Leatha Williams; and sister, Dorothy Mitchell.
The family would like to express special thanks to his caregivers, neighbors, family and friends.
