Douglas "Doug" Christopher Peariso, age 50, of Perry, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on October 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Doug was born on May 15, 1974, in Flint, Michigan. His life was defined by resilience, curiosity, and a profound love for his family.
Doug was a devoted husband to his wife, Laura, and a loving father to his son, Bruce, who was the center of his world. He is also survived by his parents, Doug and Linda Peariso; in-laws, Denny and Kathy Schmidt; sister, Angela Ostroski (and partner Dave Hazen); brother-in-law, Greg Ostroski; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Tammy Schmidt; nieces, Bonnie and Betty Schmidt; nephews, Gavin and Zachary Ostroski; and his beloved grandmother, Freda Peariso. Doug also leaves behind many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins. His family and friends will forever hold his memory close.
Doug’s life was marked by a lifelong passion for learning and teaching. After an injury ended his college football career at Alma College, he went on to earn his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan-Flint and a master's in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Michigan. Despite a challenging job market, Doug embraced every opportunity, including an early stint at Vlassic Foods, where he spent a memorable week putting the last two pickles in a jar. This experience launched a successful career in food safety and quality.
As the founder of Contemporary Process Solutions, LLC, Doug traveled the world, dedicating himself to improving food safety standards for all. In 2017, he made the heartfelt decision to close his business and devote himself entirely to his most cherished role—being a stay-at-home dad. His days were filled with teaching, playing, and making precious memories with Bruce, who he loved beyond measure.
Doug was known for his kindness, brilliance, and unwavering positivity. He had a gift for sharing wisdom and offering unique perspectives, touching the lives of everyone he met. His infectious curiosity and inspiring nature left a lasting impact on friends, family, and colleagues alike.
