Timothy Gary (Doc) Murphy, 24, of Flint passed away Thursday, September 13th, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Monday, September 17th, 2012 at Mowen Funeral Home - William A. Scarlett Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gene Kelly officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, September 17th from 11 AM to 3 PM at the funeral home.
Timothy was born September 14, 1987 in San Francisco, California. He graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 2006. Following his graduation, Timothy enlisted in the United States Army. He was posted in Alaska and was deployed to Iraq in 2008. While in Iraq, Timothy earned his Combat Medic Badge. Following his duty in Iraq, he returned to Alaska. SGT Timothy G. Murphy was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 2010. He was very proud to be an American Soldier and honored to have served his country and to serve and care for his fellow Soldiers. Once back home to Flint, Timothy enrolled in the University of Michigan-Flint and had completed two years towards a nursing degree. When given the time to play, Timothy loved golf and snow boarding.
Those who cherish his memory include: son, Liam of Flint; mother and step-father, Tamara and Donald Ellzey of Owosso; father, Richard D. Murphy Jr. of Flint; sister, Toni (Joel) Heathcoat of Durand; brother, Cody Frye of Burt; grandmother, Charlotte Coutcher of Flint; great grandparents, Charles and Barbara Tinker of Lapeer; many aunts, uncles nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard; grandfather, David Trim; grandparents, Richard and Dawn Murphy Sr.
