Rayburn, Walter W. of Flint, age 85, died Saturday, July 20, 2019, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be 12 Noon, Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Rossell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bendle Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan or the Dementia Society of America.
Walter was born in Ithaca, Michigan on July 30, 1933, the son of Robert G. and Caddie May (Brown) Rayburn. He married Marjorie Springer on July 7, 1952, in Angola, Indiana. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2016. Walter was employed by General Motors for 38 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a longtime member of Calvary Christian Church. Walter was also a member of Flushing Moose Lodge. His greatest joy was his grandchildren.
Walter is survived by his three children, Vicki and husband Michael Waltrip of Flushing, Karen Allen, Paul and wife Beverly Rayburn of St. Augestine, FL; six grandchildren, Jay and wife Casey Waltrip, Megan Waltrip, Niles Allen, Paige Allen, Samantha Rayburn, Taylor Rayburn; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Catherine, Aliyah, Amiyah, Mikey, Julian. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Kyle Waltrip; brothers, Robert G. Jr. and Leighton Rayburn; and sisters, Louise Lawcock and JoAnn Ferguson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Fostrian Court Assisted Living for their care and compassion during the past two years.
