Grant N. Martin of Flushing, age 92, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at Rossell Funeral Home, Pastor Mark Conn will officiate. Private burial will take place at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Sunday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Kraphol Senior Center.
Grant was born in Flint, MI on August 9, 1920, the son of Elmer and Fern (Herriman) Martin. He married Betty Landis on January 15, 1943 in Flint. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1986. He married Lucille Herriman on May 14, 1988 in Mt. Morris Township. She preceded him in death on December 8, 2010.
Grant worked as a milkman in Mt. Morris for McDonald’s Dairy from the late 1940’s-1957. He owned and operated Herriman’s Restaurant from 1957-1978. He later sold real estate for Century 21. Grant was a lifetime member of Mt. Morris Masonic Lodge. For 50 years, he bowled on the Beecher Metro League. He was a volunteer for the Mt. Morris Fire Department for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Morris and the Kraphol Senior Center.
Grant is survived by: four sons, Kendall and wife Janet Martin of Flushing, Chris Martin of Durand, Terry and wife Jan Martin of TN, Tim and wife Deb Martin of Gladwin; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Thomas of Mt. Morris, Lucille Sero of Davison. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers. |
