MENEAR, Barbara Mae (Bean) – of Davison, MI, age 100, passed away at home on Friday, August 30, 2024 surrounded by her children. Barbara was born May 14, 1924 in Elgin, Illinois, daughter of the late Norris and Mildred (Noble) Bean. She attended Flint Tech and worked at Citizen Bank in Flint, MI. Barbara was a member at Oak Park United Methodist Church until they closed, then she became a member at Court Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crafts, scrapbooking, playing games, gardening, traveling to visit grandchildren and trips to the lake.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Richard L. Bean; daughter, Nancy (Paul) Durant; son, Craig (Dawn) Menear; 2 grandchildren, Courtney (Sloan) Griffith and Danielle (Rodes) Bowers; 2 step-grandchildren, Brian (Megumi) Durant and Angela Durant; 3 great-grandchildren, Byron Sloan Griffith IV, Chandler Annabel Griffith and Merritt Rodes Bowers; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Jacob Durant, Naomi Durant and Eliana Durant; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Mildred Bean; husband of 64 years, Kenneth W. Menear; brother, William N. (Doris) Bean; 2 sisters, Marjorie H. (Clare) Tyler and Winifred Meier (Lawrence) Swanson.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday, September 6, 2024 at Court Street United Methodist Church, 225 West Court Street, Flint, MI 48502; Pastor Jeremy Peters officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Sunset Hills Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 9:30-11 AM Friday, September 6, 2024 at Court Street United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Macular Degeneration Research through A BrightFocus Foundation Program or Court Street United Methodist Church, in Barbara’s memory.
