Johnson, Ruth of Flushing, age 80, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Cornerstone Community Church, 5182 N. Elms Rd., Flushing. Pastor Rick Schmidt will officiate. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rossell Funeral Home and 11 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hills Camp or Cornerstone Community Church.
Ruth was born in Flint, Michigan on April 25, 1932, the daughter of Lester and Pearl (McSigue) Henry. She married Roger Johnson on November 9, 1950 in Lakeview, Michigan. Ruth was employed by Hurley Medical Center for 15 years as a Nurse’s Aid. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church and a volunteer at Covenant Hills Camp, a Free Methodist Church family camp in Otisville. Ruth enjoyed reading and many crafts, including knitting and loved making gifts for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roger; seven children, Deborah Wilson of Traverse City, Mark and wife Pamela Johnson of Otisville, Stephen and wife Cheryl Johnson of Oscoda, Timothy and wife Mary Beth Johnson of Flushing, Thomas Johnson and Mary Ann Petrowski of Flint, Elizabeth Juretich of Novi, John and wife Sharry Johnson of Remus; nephew, Larry and wife Tresa Beardslee; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; siblings, James and Loretta Henry, Paul and Jerry Henry, Esther and Jerry Lounsbury, David and Marlene Henry and several nieces and nephews.
