Carl E. McKone
Age 92 of Durand, formerly of New Lothrop, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel with Pastor Ben Hobson and Pastor Al Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 8:00pm on Monday, September 19.
Carl was born on August 12, 1924 to Ernest and Juanita (Beamish) McKone in Hazelton Township. He graduated from New Lothrop High School. He married the love of his life, Ardeth D. Hess on September 9, 1944; they celebrated 72 years of marriage earlier this month.
Carl was a lifelong farmer, and he also worked at Universal Electric, then at General Motors as a crane operator. He volunteered as a Boy Scout leader, and he was a life member of Hugh McCurdy Lodge 381. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Lamb of God Fellowship Church in Montrose.
He is survived by his wife, Ardeth; his children, Cathryn Hosking, Mickey (Judy) McKone, David (Sandy) McKone, and Mark (Sue) McKone; his 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; his brother, Rex McKone; his sisters, Beth LaRocque, Joyce (Curt) Elliot, Joy Longstreet, and Bonnie (Eugene) Friend; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, sister, Peggy (Otto) Prast; and his brothers-in-laws, Mick Longstreet and Don LaRocque.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lamb of God Fellowship Church.
