Passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at his home; age 93 years. Don was born on March 24, 1924 in Omer, MI to the late Clayton and Blanche Konoski. He was married to Elizabeth Duncan on July 26, 1947; she predeceased him. He retired as General Supervisor of Buick Motor Division Plant #25 on October 1, 1980 with 38 years seniority. Don graduated from Flint Northwestern High School in 1942. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in Europe. He was a member of Birch Run Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7542, Frankenmuth American Legion Post #150, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge World War II, Birch Run Masonic Lodge #514, and the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple. He was a resident of Birch Run since 1942.
Surviving are daughter Bette Kaye and Richard Holbrook of Birch Run; son Clayton and Michele Konoski of Birch Run; step-daughter Peggy Collins and her family of Bear River, Wyoming; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers Benny of Clio and Dallas of Mt. Morris, brother-in-law William B. Schmidt of Tawas and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; brother, Clayton Konoski; sister, Mary Schmidt; sister, Gertrude Horton; brother-in-law, D.O. Horton; stepson-in-law, Joel Collins; sisters-in-law, Mary Konoski and Bette Konoski.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. Reverend Jeff Luplow will officiate with burial in Birch Run Township Cemetery. Don’s family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
