HERMAN, Hubert - Of Flint, age 85, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road,
Pastor Steve Wood officiating.
Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 2-4pm and 6-8pm Wednesday and 12 noon Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Rotary Club of Flint.
Hubert was born in Flint on January 26, 1927, the son of Hubert and Crescence Herman. He was a lifelong resident of Flint. Hubert was a custom home builder for many years. In 1960, he went into the pre-hung door and lumber trim business. He owned and operated Pre-Fit Door, Inc. and in 1972 opened Pre-fit Door of Grand Rapids, Inc. Hubert was a member of the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Flint for over fifty years, serving as President and Director. He participated on the state level earning a National Lifetime Director status during that time. Hubert was a member of the Rotary Club of Flint, receiving a Paul Harris Fellow award three times over. He was an avid boater, spending many years on the Great Lakes and in Florida. Hubert married Marion Brown of Flint on November 12, 1948 in Flint and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2012.
Hubert is survived by his four children, William (Michelle) of Byron Center, MI;
daughters, Mary (Tom) Harwood of Charlotte, North Carolina, Barbara (Bradley) Cotner of Brighton, MI and Elizabeth (William) Herman-Ennen of Ft. Myers, Florida;
grandchildren, Jennifer Beck, Andre Francois, Nicholas Herman, Adam Herman, Katherine and Erika Cotner, John and Spencer Harwood and Lauren Ennen;
great-grandchildren, Mallory Beck and Charlotte Bowlby;
sister, Mary Laubrick of Swartz Creek;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John Herman.
