Thomas Trahey of Grand Blanc, Michigan, passed away at the age of 80 on November 25th, 2019. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, December 3rd at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, following with the burial at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Visitation will be Monday, December 2nd, from 11am to 7pm, and beginning at 11am before the service on Tuesday. Tom was born in Detroit in 1939, to the late Tom and Dorothy(Benson) Trahey, the first of their 9 children. He attended St. Mary of Redford and Lawrence Technological University for his education and served in the US Navy, stationed on the USS Goodrich destroyer. Tom made his career as a civil servant in water treatment, where he worked for the city of Detroit and retired as the superintendent of the Genesee County wastewater treatment plant. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed the game as much as the camaraderie from his friends and league members. Tom was an accomplished DIY enthusiast who was passionate about building his home and sharing his skills to make or repair anything his family requested for theirs. Most of all, he always enjoyed and looked forward to getting together with his family for the holidays, reunions, or for any reason at all. He will be loved and missed by his wife Marsha (Gusko) and their children: Kelly (John) Lance, Scott (Nichole) Trahey, and Katie (Chad) Young; grandchildren: Max, Ana, Bishop, Ethan, Cooper, Alexis; siblings: Barbara (Don) Wilson, Don (Gail) Trahey, Dorothy Wiitanen, Richard (Judy) Trahey, Irene (Ken) Wright; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. His death was preceded by his beloved: brothers Joe and Pat, and sister Cheryl along with her husband Jack Henderson; brother-in-law Jimmer Wiitanen; and son-in-law John Lance. |
