MORGAN, Winfred Wayne (Bill) -- Age 79 of Swartz Creek passed peacefully on February 21st with family by his side. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, Feb. 25th at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor Kevin Harbin officiating. Interment in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 24th from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek. Bill was born in Cullman, Alabama July 30, 1934 and was preceded in death 15-months ago, by his loving wife of 58-years, Monte. They loved and were so very proud of their entire family; two-children, Donna (Mark) Gervais and Kerry W. Morgan, Grandchildren and (Great-Grandchildren) Alyson, fiancé’ Rick, (Taylor/Ethan/Brooklyn/ Colton /Caitlin /Chase), Brooks and Reese. Heather, husband Gregg (Trenton /Carter/Cooper) Rachel, husband Josh (Owen/Natalie/Keira) and Lyndsay. After retiring from Buick in 1988, Bill and Monte started and ran a stained-glass, collectibles & sports-card, shop for many years. Bill’s love and service for the Swartz Creek Community (over the past 50-years) was so exemplary that the City of Swartz Creek honored him in 2009 by awarding him a key to the city and proclaiming July 8th of every year; “Bill Morgan Day”. He was a member of the Jaycees, the Lions Club (long-standing involvement in the leader dog program and as sight conservation chairman), and a Boy Scout Master-Troop 35. He also, spear-headed the beautiful, Swartz Creek Area’s Veterans Memorial and restoration of the Chippewa Indian Burial Ground, both of which he was especially proud of. Bill founded the Swartz Creek Area Historical Society and he and his wife, started the city’s recycling efforts in 1973 by setting-up the city's first Recycling Center. Bill is survived by his sister, Evelyn (Tim) Adams and brother, Sanford (Sharon) Morgan and his dog, Koda. In lieu of flowers, Bill’s wishes were for you to please consider a donation to one of the following; Swartz Creek Methodist Church (Youth Missions), Swartz Creek Lions Club (Sight Fund) or Swartz Creek Area Historic Society’s (Veteran’s Memorial Maintenance Fund).
