Gerald N. Wooton, 83, of Durand, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Durand Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. Pastor Steven Woods will be officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
Gerald was born February 18, 1934 in Durand, MI a son of Leslie and Eleanor (McCall) Wooton. In 1955 he married Mary Jane Tullar. She preceded him in death on February 22, 2008. Gerald was a member of the Jaycees and a volunteer for the DVA. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, watching sports and was a huge Michigan State fan. Prior to his retirement he had been employed by Smelter's of Durand for 15 years and Johnson Controls for 10 years.
Gerald is survived by his daughter, Denise (Rob) Stites and Dennis (Beverly) Wooton; grandchildren, Amanda Stites, Adam (Robby) Stites, Devyn Stites, Nicholas (Anna) Wooton, Nichole Wooton and Jennifer Bright; great grandchildren, Meadow Stites, Grayson Wooton and Carter Wooton; and brother, Jack (Earlene) Wooton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Wooton; and son, Gerald Wooton Jr.
