PAULSEN, Sharon Grace – of Clio, formerly of Davison, age 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2020 at her residence in Clio. A memorial service will take place at 12PM Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Michael Palmer officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 11AM until 6PM and Tuesday from 11AM until the time of service at 12PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
Sharon was born January 16, 1942 in Flint, Michigan, to the late Leslie and Ruth (Gunnell) Finn. She attended Kearsley High School in Flint. On February 20, 1965, Sharon married Charles E. Paulsen. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2012. She obtained her certificate and worked as a medical assistant for many years. Later Sharon earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Michigan State University and began working with Boysville of Michigan Incorporated in Saginaw as a social worker for several years. Sharon was a member of the Genesee County Herb Society, Red Hat Society, and Family Card Club. She enjoyed creating personalized cards, known as “stampin’ up”. Sharon also enjoyed time up north at the family cabin in Oscoda, Michigan. She enjoyed the idea of traveling and did so as often as she could and once traveled through parts of Canada via train. Sharon was described as a great listener, she was quick to listen and patient to understand people, yet slow to answer and offer her own thoughtful comments on a variety of subjects. She was compassionate, intelligent, and engaged many in in-depth conversations, striving to understand the other’s point of view. She was generous and kindhearted.
Surviving are: Sons: Eric Paulsen of Clio, Michael (Kelly) Paulsen of Swartz Creek; Grandchildren: Edward Paulsen, Joseph Paulsen, Loraine Brinker, Tami (Dan) Hopper, Jamie (Jeremy) Chandler; Great-grandchildren: Grace, Hope, Faith, Drew, Jayden, Jordyn, Joslyn, Holden, Joshua; Sister, Christine (Harold) Sherwin.
