Samida, William H. of Flushing, age 82, died Monday, September 14, 2015, at his home. A memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Fr. Thomas Firestone will officiate. Burial of cremated remains will be at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
William was born in Flint, Michigan on August 9, 1933, the son of John and Margaret (VanAarle) Samida. He married Betty Lou Stanford in Mars, Pennsylvania on May 30, 1959. William worked as a Journeyman Electrician, retiring in December 1993, after over 41 years. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local #948. William was an active member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where he was a St. Joseph Worker. He enjoyed tinkering and using his hands to make things, especially woodworking.
William is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Lou; son and daughter, William J. and Debra Samida; grandsons, Derek Samida and fiancee Macy, Steven and wife Katelyn Samida; sisters-in-law, Marie Samida, Mary Samida; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister. |
