Warren Roger Stephens
Warren Roger Stephens, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on April 28, 1945, and passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family. Warren was a remarkable man whose warm heart and infectious laughter made everyone around him feel cherished and valued. He had a unique ability to light up a room and bring joy to every gathering with his genuine spirit and sense of humor.
Adopted by two loving parents, Harry and Elvera Stephens, Warren grew up in a nurturing home that instilled in him the values of kindness and compassion. In his later years, he discovered the story of his biological mother, Geraldine Underwood, and at the age of 73, he was blessed with the gift of family when he found his brother, Joe Britz, and his wife, Meri-lyn Britz, unveiling an entire side of his family he had never known.
Warren's love story with his high school sweetheart, Sharon Stephens (McGuire), is a testament to enduring love, as they celebrated nearly 60 beautiful years together. They built two homes filled with love and laughter, one of which stands proudly as the family cabin, a cherished retreat for generations to enjoy. As parents, Warren and Sharon raised two wonderful daughters, Lisa Hagel (John) and Carey Latture (Dave), who carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.
Warren took immense pride in being a grandfather to Zachary Kiefer (Haley), Alexis DeHaan (Nathan), Hunter Carnell, Hannah Carnell, Nick Hagel (Danielle), Anna Hagel, Austin Latture (Nhu), and Evan. He reveled in his role as a great-grandfather to Charlotte and Emerson Hagel, cherishing every moment spent with them. Warren’s playful spirit and nurturing heart left an indelible mark on his family, who adored him deeply.
A dedicated professional, Warren spent many years with Consumers Power in Flint, Michigan, where he was known for his tireless work ethic and commitment to serving others. He restored power to thousands of homes, fearlessly climbing tall poles in the harshest
conditions, especially during ice storms. His courage and determination brought light and warmth to countless families in their times of need. In addition to his work in both the gas and electric utility industries, Warren was a gifted sign painter, creating stunning designs for fire trucks, ambulances, race cars, and businesses. His artistic talent also brought joy to friends and family, as he created personalized signs that celebrated their lives and passions. Later, he founded Tidy House, a house-cleaning business that reflected his dedication to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for others.
Warren's love for the outdoors was unparalleled. He cherished fishing trips with his daughters and grandchildren, sharing the thrill of the catch and the tranquility of nature. He was passionate about hunting, imparting his love for the woods and the great outdoors to his grandsons, ensuring they appreciated the beauty and serenity of nature. Beyond his adventures in nature, Warren had a keen interest in the stock market, always looking for opportunities to secure his family’s future and dreaming of hitting the jackpot.
Travel was another of Warren’s great passions. He and Sharon embarked on numerous adventures together, enjoying cruises and exploring the vast landscapes of the United States, from the majestic beauty of Alaska to the charming coasts of Maine. Their travels were filled with laughter, casinos, and live shows, as they seized every opportunity to create lasting memories together.
Warren’s natural gift for storytelling made him a captivating presence at any gathering. His jokes and anecdotes brought laughter and joy to family and friends alike, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. His generous spirit and adventurous soul touched countless lives, making him beloved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
