Lorraine L. Staley of Flushing, age 94, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, November 24, 2012. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at St. Robert Catholic Church, Fr. Roy Horning will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-9:00 p.m. Monday at Rossell Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass Tuesday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert Catholic Church and/or School or the Christopher Atchison “Live The Dream” Scholarship Fund.

Mrs. Staley was born in Bay City, Michigan on July 6, 1918, the daughter of William and Amanda Kennedy. She married August Staley in Flint, Michigan on October 29, 1938. Lorraine was a dedicated and loving homemaker and mother of nine children. She loved music, dancing and roller-skating with her husband Augie. Lorraine was a talented artist and poet. Many cherished memories were created with Lorraine, her family and friends at her and Augie’s beautiful farm and pond. Lorraine lived her entire life strong in her faith and devoted to her family.

Lorraine is survived by: her children, Dianne Creighton, Dennis (Mary Ann) Staley, Thomas (Laura) Staley, Mary Lou (Fred) Kellett, James (Jody) Staley, David (Cathy) Staley, Michael (Patti) Staley, Gerald (Debra) Staley, Christine (John) Atchison; 49 grandchildren and spouses; 39 great-grandchildren, totaling 115 descendents. She is also survived by her loving and devoted sister, Nancy Jarvie and brother-in-law, Gerald Fox. Lorraine was preceded in death by: her husband, August Staley; daughter-in-law, Patricia Staley; sons-in-law, Patrick Creighton and Joseph Novak; grandson, Christopher Atchison; parents; brother, William Kennedy and sister, Lucille Ridley.

The family expresses their deepest appreciation and thank you to the staffs of Woodhaven Senior Community, Homestead Health Care, and McLaren Hospice for their dedication and caring support.
