BROOKS, Viley Delores – of Flushing, age 87, died Monday, June 11, 2018 at Fostrian Court Assisted Living in Flushing. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 15, 2018 at North Baptist Church at 4004 Lennon Road, Flint, Michigan. Pastor Aaron Burton officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 11AM until time of service at 1PM at the church on Friday. Memorial contributions can be made to the North Baptist Church or Mt. Morris Community Church.
Delores was born December 10, 1930 in Tupelo, Mississippi to the late Charley and Lillie Mae (Cauley) Blain. She grew up in Marked Tree, Arkansas and graduated from Marked Tree High School with the class of 1948. On September 6, 1948 she married Ralph “Vern” Lietch and he preceded her in death on August 3, 1995. She then married Jay Brooks on December 1, 1972 in Flint, Michigan. She was a member of North Baptist Church and also Mt. Morris Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, and painting. Delores also liked to write poetry, singing at church, and was a very gifted homemaker.
Surviving are: Husband, Jay; Children, Janice (David) Pollock, Cynthia (Eric) Zydel, Karen (Don) Elgas, Mark (Sandy) Brooks; 5 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; Siblings, Charles Blain, Jesse (Lois) Blain, Billy Wayne (Glenda) Blain, Jimmy Dale(Marilynn) Blain, Elizabeth Ford; and several nieces and nephews.
