ZIRALDO, Mario G. –
Of Grand Blanc, age 84, died Monday October 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist, 600 N Adelaide, Fenton, Father David Harvey officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1-8 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mario was born in Fagagna, Italy on January 28, 1934 nestled within view of the snow-crested Italian Alps. He came to the United States at age 21 and brought his talent of Italian terrazzo and tile, working on many projects with Flint Mosaic and State Tile companies.
Mario served in the United States Army from 1957-1959.
He married Gail Annette Bruder on September 12, 1964 and celebrated 37 years of marriage. Mario worked at General Motors and retired in 1997.
He enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers.
He greatly enjoyed having his grandchildren and seeing them grow up.
Surviving children, Mark (Lisa) Ziraldo of Linden, Michael (Kristi) Ziraldo of Grand Blanc, and Catherine (Stephen) Levijoki of Swartz Creek; grandchildren Emma Ziraldo, Jackson Levijoki, Matteo and Marco Ziraldo, brothers-in-law John (Helen) Bruder, Fred (Beverly) Bruder; nieces and nephews, Diego (Antanela) Busolini, Erika, Laurie, Heather. He was preceded in death by his wife Gail, mother Emma and father Federico, sisters Bruna Ziraldo and Maria (Mario) Busolini.
