Thompson, Mother Norma J. age-77 passed away Monday January 22,2018 at Briarwood Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday January 27,2018 from the Prayer Garden C.O.G.I.C. 4409 Fleming Rd. Officiant Eld. Jerry L. Givens,Jr., Host Pastor, Eulogist Eld. Kiyuan D. Thompson, Pastor of Impact Family C.O.G.I.C. Interment RiverRest Cemetery G-4413 Flushing Rd. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10am for visitation.
Mother Thompson will repose in the Chapel of the Martin J.Banks Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10am until 6pm Friday. Mother Norma Jean Thompson was born January 26, 1940 in Reeves, Tennessee the daughter of Dud (Samella Hicks) Reed. She was a resident of Flint for 50 plus years and a faithful member of the Prayer Garden C.O.G.I.C Family for over 40yrs.serving as church mother. She loved the Lord, her family and going to church. The Saints of God were people whom she loved with all her heart!! She leaves to cherish her memory 3 daughters, Yolanda and Monica Thompson both of Flint,Mi. and Sabrina Thompson of Ypsilanti, Mi. 4 sons, Michael (Karen) Thompson of Fairview Heights, Illinois, Anthony (Rhonda)Thompson of Ypsilanti, Mi., and Kenneth Thompson of Flint, Mi. 7 grandchildren, Pastor Kiyuan D. (Keona) Thompson both of Flint, Mi., Tywan Thompson, Rashad (Dashonda) Thompson of Houston, Texas, Delon (Antwan) Caldwell of Ypsilanti, Mi., Nakita and Monique Thompson both of St. Louis, Mo. 15 great grandchildren, Kishon, Kiyuan,Jr., Keyonna, Keilin, Kiara, Rashad, Nichole,Niyonna,Hollister,Narion,Malik m,Benjamin,Montavion, Paul and Zion. Sister Dorothy Massey of St. Louis, Mo. A host of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends including the Prayer Garden C.O.G.I.C Family. She was preceded in death by her mother Samella Hicks, son Wendell Thompson, grandson Ramon Thompson. The would like to express special thanks to Pastor Jerry L. Givens,Jr. and Administrator Jerry L.Givens,Sr. her former pastor of 32yrs and the Prayer Garden C.O.G.I.C, Heartland Briarwood Manor and staff.
