CLOWERS, Verlin Ray – of Clio, age 83, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be 11 AM Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose, Rev. Fr. Michael O’Brien officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Tuesday from 4-8PM, and at the church on Wednesday from 10AM until time of Mass. Contributions may be made to one’s local AA chapter.
Ray was born April 9, 1928 in Amaroso, Arkansas to the late Allen and Eunice (Crawford) Clowers. He was a resident of the Flint area most of his life. He owned and operated Rays Moving Service from 1955 to 1996. He attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and was a counselor for AA. Ray enjoyed fishing and sports.
Surviving are: 3 children, Dennis (Mary) Clowers of Marquette, James (Sharon) Clowers of Flint, Tamara (Todd) Pangle of Montrose; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Maxine Patterson of TX, Brenda Clowers of MO; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Ellen in 2008; son, Joseph in 2001; 2 brothers, Billy Joe and Marvin.
