Jeffrey Duane Bowen, 53, passed away from a freak infection on July 29th, 2024. Jeff was a brilliant technician, beloved father, and helpful tinkerer.
Born on March 7th, 1971, Jeff attended Corunna High School and Lansing Community College. His early career included sales work for Emery-Pratt, before he joined Rent-Way as a repair technician. While there, he was sent to service centers across the country to share his techniques for repairing common problems in TVs of the 90's and early 2000's. He continued service work for Corunna Electronics and Rent-A-Center until 2008, when he founded JD Electronics, his own repair shop in downtown Owosso. In 2015, he joined ABC 12 as a broadcast engineer, where he configured and serviced equipment for all parts of the station.
Never one to sit still, Jeff stayed occupied with hobbies and side-projects his whole life. In elementary school, he took part in multiple scout programs. He loved playing guitar and caring for his cockatiels, Gus, Gabby, and Lulu. He also tinkered extensively, and had a basement workshop as far back as anyone can remember. He often helped local businesses solve technical challenges or find ways to repair essential equipment. When needed, Jeff could become an overnight expert on any topic. Most recently, he set up a large automated watering system for a local greenhouse.
Jeff was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Bowen. He is survived by his parents, Richard and Wilma Bowen, mother Sandra Peeples, sister Michelle Webster (Harvey Haigler), and son Alex (Amber) Bowen. The family would like to extend thanks to all the medical staff who helped care for him in his final weeks. A private celebration of life will be held. |
