WILLETT, Floyd William – of Lapeer, age 80, passed away October 11, 2018 at McLaren-Flint. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday, October 19, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Bruce Lawton officiating. Burial will be in Bird Cemetery, Elba Twp. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday and 10 AM until time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to World Harvest Outreach c/o Mortimers, P O Box 574, Shell Lake, WI 54871 or Foundation for His Ministry, P O Box 7400, San Clemente, CA 92673.
Floyd was born in Carsonville, MI on February 1, 1938, son of the late Edwin and Hazel (Smith) Willett. He married Irene McLean on July 11, 1959 and she preceded him in death on April 27, 2014. Floyd was a 4-H Leader in Elba during the 1970’s with “Passport to Progress”4-H Club. He was a faithful member of Faith Tabernacle in Burton for many years. Floyd was very passionate about playing the steel guitar and played many other string instruments. He went on many mission trips to Peru, Haiti, Trinidad, Nicaragua, Israel and Mexico. Floyd’s mission field specialty was playing music at nursing homes. He was a deep thinker and met many challenges head on. Floyd retired from GM in 1991 after 35 years and then worked as a driver with Allen Funeral Home for over 25 years.
Floyd is survived by his children, Tonya (Dawsey) Medlin of Pennsauken, NJ, Daryl (Lisa) Willett of Buckley, MI and Lynette Stanford of Lapeer, MI; grandchildren, Kelly (Jeffrey) Hoos, Adam and Hunter Willett and Naomi Stanford; siblings, Arlyn Barnes, Helena (John) Mortimer, Ronald (Irene) Willett, Judy (Hasel) Adkins, Joyce Bickers, Maxine Brewer, Janet (Jim) Barrentine, Jerry (Rose) Willett and Reneé (Dan) Oshowy. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alyssa Willett and brother, Frank Willett.
