MIKOVITS, Fritz O. – of Mt. Morris, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Friday, September 13, 2019 at SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church – 230 E. Vienna St., in Clio. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Coughlin officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 2PM until 8PM and at the church on Friday from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to The Fallen Outdoors.
Fritz was born July 23, 1937 in Flint, Michigan to the late Frank and Caroline (Kosa) Mikovits. He married Joyce Hope Muma on January 28, 1961. She preceded him in death June 21, 2009. Mr. Mikovits is a U.S. Army Veteran. Fritz retired from General Motors – Fisher Body in 1996 with over 42 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #598. He was also a member of SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church, the Red Coats and the NRA. Fritz was a driver for Suski Automotive and was also employed with O’Guinn Family Funeral Homes. He enjoyed hunting – especially duck, fishing, skeet shooting, and playing Hearts and Euchre. He also enjoyed giving guided hunts at Holmes Pheasant Farm in Otter Lake. Fritz loved his dogs.
Surviving are: Children: Timothy Mikovits, Christine Thornton (Fiancé Jeff Rau), and James Mikovits; Grandchildren: Whitney, Nicholas, Christian, Ryan, David, Daniel, Jonathan, and Aubrey; Sister, Lillian (Howard) Kateman; Daughter in law, Melanie Mikovits; Many cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends. Fritz was also preceded in death by: Sons: David and Alan Mikovits; Son in law, Dale Thornton; Sister, Viola Quinn.
