WHEELER, Christopher James Jr.-age 38 of Flushing, MI went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 surrounded by his family at Hurley Medical Center. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 12pm-7pm with a special hour of reflection from 7pm-8pm at Reigle Funeral Home-Sunset Chapel-5501 W. Pierson Rd. Flushing, MI. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 at 1pm, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will take place at Flushing City Cemetery. Christopher was born February 24, 1977 in Flint, MI to Christopher James Sr. and Susan Lynn (Stafford) Wheeler. He graduated from Flushing High School in 1996. Christopher worked alongside his father in construction, while also selling real estate for American Associates. Christopher had a number of things he loved in life. Growing up, he loved baseball and spent many hours on the fields gaining the nickname “the Cannon” for his fast arm and powerful hitting. He was dedicated to being fit and healthy so much that you would see him running through the property in the snow to strengthen his body. Christopher also bowled not one, but two perfect 300 games in his men’s bowling league with his father. He had a great passion for organic horticulture in which he received numerous awards. Digging in the dirt, making organic fertilizers, and creating beautiful landscapes with new varieties of plants filled his heart with joy. Christopher’s family was one of the most important things in the world to him, always putting them first many times before himself. He loved watching his nieces and nephews at their sporting and school events. He cheered them on and gave loving tips to help them improve their game. Music was a huge part of his life, loving the old classic rock. He knew every band, song name, and the people in the band. We called him our “music encyclopedia”. He was born with a smile on his face that remained there his entire life. Even when he tried not to smile, his big beautiful blue eyes smiled for him. In fact, he was so appropriately nicknamed “Smiley”. He will be remembered for his kindness, giving nature, quick wit, and sense of humor and the fact that he loved so selflessly. Surviving are his parents, Christopher Wheeler Sr., Sue (Ray) Skytta; sister Heather Wheeler and Daniel Butler; nieces and nephews, Zachery, Zoe, and Isaac; grandparents , Robert (Faye) Wheeler and Nancy Stafford; aunts and uncles, Teresa (David) Francis, Sandy(David) Casemore, Peggy (Larry) Jones, Cherie Stafford-Hunter, Darrell (Lynn) Stafford, Pamela Wheeler-Margallis, Shelia (Bill) Brooks, and Melinda (Rick) Pryor; special Aunt Shirley Smith; many cousins, including two very special ones who have been there by his side the last 5 years, Kimberly Francis and David Casemore Jr.. He was preceded in death by many loved ones. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Henry Ford Hospital, Fostrian Manor and Hurley Hospital, especially Leah, Danielle and Rebecca. Those desiring may make contributions to the family. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reiglefuneralhome.com
