ABRAMS, Joel Cody - Age 82, of Swartz Creek, died December 21, 2016. Services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of service.
Joel was born on May 8, 1934 in Mineola, NY, the son of Percy Orrin and Mabel Ozetta (Barker) Abrams. He was a 1953 graduate of Durand High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War. Joel went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) where he was instrumental in selecting the carillons that were installed there. He went on to become an accomplished engineer in his career at General Motors. Joel also served on the Swartz Creek School Board and taught Hydraulics at Mott Community College.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Kathi Stiff, Joel S. Abrams and Tim E. (Mary) Abrams; grandchildren, Brad (Rebecca) Stiff and Jamie Abrams; great-grandchildren, Lucian and River Stiff; brother, Richard (Boots) Abrams; and sister-in-law, Barbara Abrams.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert.
