Leola Virle Huber
Age 90 of Owosso walked into the arms of Jesus on January 10, 2017.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Monday January 16, 2016 at the First Church of God (2100 N. M-52 Owosso) with Rev. Paul Kirkpatrick and Rev. Mike Harmon officiating. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Sunday January 15 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Monday at the church from 11:30am until time of service.
Leola was born April 26, 1926 in Midland, Michigan, the daughter of William A. and Frances A. (Farrier) Priest, the eighth of nine children.
She graduated from Midland High School on June 8, 1944 and two days later married Rex G. Huber.
Leola and Rex moved to Flint, Michigan in 1950 where they raised three children. She worked several years at the Flint and Owosso branches of the Michigan Employment Security Commission. Leola also worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for other businesses in Flint. They moved to Fenton in 1963 where they enjoyed life on Lake Ponemah and then moved to Owosso in 1966. They attended the West Court Street Church of God in Flint and the First Church of God in Owosso. Leola was faithfully active in the music programs and the ladies ministry in both churches.
From 1987 through 1994 they lived briefly in Clare and Lake Wales, Florida. While in Lake Wales they worked at Warner Southern University in the maintenance department. They also worked as "grandparents" at a Sheriff's Ranch for juvenile offenders. After Rex died in 1994, Leola returned to Owosso. In April of 2016, Leola was greeted at her 90th birthday party by 100 friends and family.
For 35 years the Huber family has camped together over the July 4th holiday. Last summer, there were 32 family members ranging in age from 3 months to 90 years. Leola even stayed in her own RV.
She was an amazing seamstress and created beautiful clothing for her family. She also enjoyed crocheting and other craftwork. Leola was also a self-taught pianist.
Leola is survived by her daughter, Brad and Virle Paulsen of Holland; her son Gary and Marilyn Huber of Mt. Morris; her daughter-in-law Elaine Huber of Owosso; special friends George Cooper and family of Bancroft; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Mrs. Irene Huber, Mrs. Alice Huber, Mrs. Marilyn Roach and Rev.
