DEAR, John E. – of Burton, age 77, passed away November 22, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 11 AM Monday, November 27, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; his nephew, Deacon Michael Dear officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment with Military Honors will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Sunday and 10-11 AM Monday. A Rosary will be prayed 7 PM Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
John was born in Flint, MI on March 4, 1940, son of the late Loren and Emily (LaBean) Dear. He married Ottamay McCallum and one child was born of that union. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He previously worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired from AC Spark Plug after more than 30 years of service. John enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, playing cards and helping people.
John is survived by his children, Darlene Dear Musselman, Denny (Robin) Dear; grandchildren, Hunter and James Musselman; brother, Robert (Marjorie) Dear; special friend, Linda Walker. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Kerovac.
