Alice passed away Friday morning, December 27, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region, at the age of 84 years. The daughter of the late Armour and Eolah (Avery) Coates was born August 8, 1935 in Flint, Michigan. She retired from A & P Grocery in Bay City and went on to Mervin’s in Texas and retired after 30 years of service. Alice enjoyed working and she did not retire until she was 70 and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Left behind to cherish her memories are three sons and one daughter, Mark Cooper, Scott (Dawn) Cooper, Alan Cooper and Wendy Wesenick; her grandchildren, Kate, Garrett, Chris, Jaclyn, John and Rowan; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Davis and one brother, Larry Coates. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Cooper, her sisters and brothers, Betty Laureto, Barb Kraklau, Charles Coates, Michael Coates and Maxine Donnelly. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Close to Home Assisted Living for the kind and compassionate care Alice received during her time of need.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson with private burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Tuesday to receive family and friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
